The village dance club

The Village Dance Club was formed on the success of beginner classes we have run over the last 20 years . Originally at Sixpenny Handley then at Durweston Village Hall. Many have moved on to improver classes and still enjoy the social friendly atmosphere of our informal classes. Several couples tell us their previous attempts to learn to dance were unsuccessful but have clicked with our method.

We try to keep rates as low as possible to ensure learning to dance is in everyone's reach. If you are willing to spend some time learning this great skill you will never regret it.

Dancing is a great aerobic sport. If you want to tone up and get some gentle exercise then dancing is great way to do it. If you try out beginner classes you will find them sociable and fun and you might even make some new friends as well. We are starting a new class at Pimperne Village hall on Sunday October 3rd 2010 see the News Page

Dance music for private functions

Unless you travel to the main towns like Bournmouth Southampton etc it is very difficult to find venues where you can enjoy Ballroom and Latin Dancing. We have all the equipment and over 3000 tracks of the best dance music available.

We are dancers ourselves and work very hard to provide dancers with music they will want to dance to. Our rates for private parties and dances are very low why not give us a ring to discuss your event. While dances we run are mainly for Ballroom and Latin dancers we also provide on the spot teaching of some of the simpler dances thus enabling guests who are non dancers to join in.

Informal Instruction
We are not qualified professional dance teachers, but we are both Imperial Gold medallists of long standing. We have taught many people to dance and gained many friends in the process over the last 20+ years.

The Dance course
This is an evening course that follows a curriculum, continuity is important. You can try a class before you commit yourself to a complete course so you can decide whether you want to make the commitment for the rest of the course.

An insight on how a dance works.
Dances are made up of groups of steps called figures. Figures are connected by a repeating pattern of steps called a basic chassis. We will teach you a short program containing a set of figures. Once you have mastered a set of figures you can rearrange them in any order you wish - giving you complete control what you dance.

Standard figures
All figures we teach are standard dance figures and routines. You will quickly develop the confidence to be able to lead a figure or follow a routine with any person that has also learnt to dance properly.
